One was preferable over the other. So sometimes we have to exercise choice in the primaries.

Because after 8 years of the Bushistas, I have seen that the Repubs are indeed a far greater evil.

It would be nice to vote my Truman-era values, but this type of choice between imperfect and god-awful is where we are these days.

the past, even Eisenhower included too are long gone. So, I vote for the one that seems less damaging. It really is today a choice "between imperfect and god-awful."

If you don't have a good candidate in the primary, that's your indication that you need to either run for office, or work on recruiting a good candidate to run in the primary.

Even if they lose the primary election, they can turn the party. That's how the insane wing of the Republican party took over - they lost a lot of primaries, but the threat caused the "mainstream" to fear them and turn in their direction.

Voters scare them, it's why they spend so much time on voter suppression legislation: via ALEC, for instance.
