Lawyers for KY Governor Beshear say gay marriage threatens Kentucky birth rates.

-clip- Gov. Steve Beshear's lawyers say Kentucky's ban on gay marriage should be retained because only "man-woman" couples can naturally procreate — and the state has an interest in ensuring that they do.

Appealing a federal judge's decision that the state's ban on recognizing gay marriages violates the constitutional guarantee of equal protection under the law, Beshear's hired counsel say Kentucky has a legitimate interest in encouraging procreation to support "long-term economic stability through stable birth rates."-clip-

My heterosexual wife and I didn't procreate so I guess we should never have been permitted to marry.

to turtleman's chagrin.

It though, seems to be a bizarre statement, as gay people can damn well have kids just as much as straight people can.

It is such an obvious conclusion to the shriveled wingnut mind.

Beshear needs to be upgraded to the teabagger presidential short list.

If his official legal position is that straights won't have intercourse because gays marry, then he needs to be labeled as somewhat delusional. Democrat or not, his policy is perfectly repugnant and very Teapublican.

You see, I just wanted some equal rights at first. But now I know that me having equal rights will turn the entire state gay and cause our population to die off, which of course I'm not in favor of. So I'm super glad that my tax dollars are being spent to reveal this massive problem!

I'm also curious as to why Massachusetts hasn't disappeared in the last decade, but maybe it takes a while for this to kick in.
