Arkansas Equality message from Facebook

Letter to the opposition: In case you haven't noticed, we (as gay people) have grown weary of being persecuted, beaten and shamed. Our time is NOW and we will NEVER go back to the way it was. The flood gates of equality are opening and the great state of Arkansas will be much stronger for it. I know Arkansas very well, I was born and raised here as were my parents, grandparents and great grandparents. IF gay marriage went up for a vote today, it would pass with a large majority. This is not 2004 anymore! The people of Arkansas have woken up. So you can take your hatred and misinterpreted bible, your "hate the sin and not the sinner", your holier-than-thou ignorance and cram it squarely up your ass. You say this country was founded on Christianity and the Bible, and you, again, are flat wrong. The words Jesus, Christ, Christianity, Bible, Creator, Divine, and God are never mentioned in the Constitution, not even one time. Nowhere in the Constitution is religion mentioned, except in exclusionary terms. You cannot bend and twist history like you can the Bible, not anymore. The people have easy access to the facts. For example, if you google "countries ruled by religion" Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates and Pakistan pop up. Thomas Jefferson (a Founding Father and the principal author of the Declaration of Independence) wrote this: "The whole history of these books [the Gospels] is so defective and doubtful that it seems vain to attempt minute inquiry into it: and such tricks have been played with their text, and with the texts of other books relating to them, that we have a right, from that cause, to entertain much doubt what parts of them are genuine. In the New Testament there is internal evidence that parts of it have proceeded from an extraordinary man; and that other parts are of the fabric of very inferior minds. It is as easy to separate those parts, as to pick out diamonds from dunghills". Speak your hatred and thinly disguised homophobia to dwindling congregations and whisper it in back rooms where it belongs. You will be publicly shamed and ridiculed if you bring it to the masses. You no longer represent the opinions of most Arkansans. You no longer represent all Christians. There are throngs of good Christians out there, I have met them. Some are members of my family. They are for marriage equality and OUR human dignity. They have walked out of your hate-mongering churches, and will continue to do so in droves. They are not trying to debase me as a human being, and they have somewhat restored my faith in the religion that you pushed me away from. Pushed me away by calling me an abomination and telling me I was going to burn in hell for simply loving the "wrong" person. So to all you haters out there, and this is a fact, your days are over. Now step aside
