Grandmother, 64, dies after dentist tries to extract TWENTY teeth at once

Grandmother, 64, dies after dentist tries to extract TWENTY teeth at once after she begged him to stop.

A 64-year-old grandmother who lost consciousness in the dentist chair while undergoing a complex procedure to have 20 teeth extracted all at once, died just one hour later in hospital.

Retired librarian, mother-of-two and grandmother Judy Gan was having the extractions, together with implants and grafts performed at Dr. Patel’s Enfield Dental Surgery in Connecticut on Feb. 17 when she became unresponsive.

The two dental assistants present have since told investigators that they begged Dr. Rashmi Patel to stop what he was doing after his patients' vitals kept dropping.

Patel, a practicing dentist in the state for almost 11 years, allegedly refused a first request by his staff to halt the procedure and call 911 and even continued working after Gan had briefly woken up and asked him to stop.

I just had two wisdom teeth removed last week, I can't imagine more than that. Makes my mouth hurt all over again.

I had all four wisdom-teeth removed in one session. Wasn't as horrible as I imagined, but almost. Definitely won't do that again.

But seriously, I hope that guy gets manslaughter charges and looses his license.

that need to be extracted.

It is very often done at one time, at which point, the dentist will also insert temporary dentures or some other prosthetic so that the patient does not have to go without teeth while healing.

and dentures places immediately. The next week was probably the most painful time I've ever had. HOWEVER, in that my teeth hurt every frickin' day of my life, after the healing was over, my teeth have never hurt ever again. And I don't have to worry about rotting/decaying teeth because of not being able to afford a dentist.

As to the story, the assistants saw she was in distress and the doctors ignored their pleas. He needs to have his license pulled and manslaughter charges brought against him.

At some point.

Unfortunately I had a flashback to an earlier time in my life and I believed that the Dentist and staff were torturing me. As a result I became combative. It's all a bit blurry but they did manage to get the procedure finished somehow. I remember trying to fight them off and not doing a good job of it as they were winning. I was still high as a kite and drooling blood all over myself when my mortified wife and daughter came to collect me from the practice's front waiting room.

When I went back for my follow up all the staff there were looking at me like I was a freaking loon and the dentist had a huge cut on his nose which he claimed he got falling off his bike (if I recall). Hopefully he was telling the truth, as I hate to think I actually hurt someone -- though from the staff reactions I suppose it's possible.

Anyway, I had to find a new Dentist after that.
