D'Souza pleads guilty to U.S. campaign finance law violation
(Reuters) - The conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a campaign finance law violation, averting a trial that had been expected to begin the same day in Manhattan federal court.
D'Souza pleaded guilty to one criminal count of making illegal contributions in the names of others. A second count concerning the making of false statements is expected to be dismissed once the defendant is sentenced.

Looks like all that talk about him being persecuted for criticizing Obama was puffery.

He'll also have no reason to avoid breaking the law. He'll just learn to hide it a little better.

(70,708 posts)1) Gets away with myriad offenses life long, so one Guilty plea is nothing.
2) Hes one of vicious, vile Laura INGRAHAMs ex-boyfriends, who together with her back in college posted flyers around campus outing Gays, got Bill MAHERs t.v. show axed for something HE/DSOUZA said, pitiful propagandist.
3) This crime he committed was to fund a Rethug in New York? In other words, doing the crime for the sake of a candidate who couldnt win anyway?! Thats so smart.
4) So the LYING charge will be dismissed because, well, lying is just DNA for Rethugs.

(11,175 posts)Per the linked article, in entering the guilty plea he said, "I knew that causing a campaign contribution to be made in the name of another was wrong and something the law forbids. I deeply regret my conduct."
In other words: My attempt to scam you failed, so now I want to act remorseful in the hope of getting a light sentence.
Judge Berman is a Clinton appointee so maybe we can hope that D'Souza will actually get to see the inside of a cell.
