He was ordered to take anger management classes by the court.

(15,238 posts)I suspect this ass should in general be removed from human society and not allowed a bludgeon weapon of any kind. It appears he has serious issues that have repeatedly been covered up including almost this time. My understanding since Zimmerman was handcuffed he can suit the police for false arrest in 174 days unless charges are brought against him. They are making another monster down there in Florida.

(10,857 posts)Sweeping a felony under the rug like that usually requires a powerful judge, which the fellow conveniently has as his father. The fact that Zimmerman's father is a "Northern Virginia" judge further suggests he may not be a run-of-the-mill judge, but someone with some real, far-reaching clout.
There has been a powerful attempt all week to misdirect the issue from the obvious question, which is why in the hell was the guy allowed to leave a one-gun death scene WITH THE GODDAMNED GUN?
It's got something to do with his interpersonal connections, probably through his father, that much seems certain.
Not even Bill Maher was willing to kick that football last night, which suggests to me that Zimmerman's ally is powerful, wide-reaching, and possibly even feared by just about the only guy in the entertainment industry who can say what he wants without fear of losing advertising money.
My guess is that the guy's dad is or was a FISA court judge, and has the full backing and support of one or more of our governments' scarier acronyms. My guess is that the push-back at this point has less to do with getting the shooter off than with compressing the haemhorrhage so that people don't start asking how busy the guy's father has been these past eleven years.
I will also point out that I'm perfectly free to speculate on such a touchy matter of national security because the judge has already publicly intervened on behalf of his son. Now we have to ask who is trying to slip this guy from the noose.
