I called Michael Medved today; he was cowardly.

He was going on and on about Sen. Jay Rockefeller's astute comment that many of his anti-ACA emails are from people who are simply against the president; "Maybe he's the wrong color," mused Rockefeller. I called to disagree with the "host" and remind him that, while perhaps the senators in the committee meeting aren't racists, they know how to tap into the electoral energy of those who are.

Medved went on a tirade about how Obama got the largest vote from whites and How could this be if people are racist and Why didn't Kerry get a bigger vote and...

I responded that it may have had something to do with "Hope," but realized that he had cut off my connection in the middle of his rant. I had naively expected to talk with this guy, forgetting that the purpose of the show is not illumination but conflagration. I now consider Michael Medved to be a coward, unwilling to consider views not his own.

how easily Republicans lie. It makes you wonder if they even know how to tell the truth.

Just from personal experience, I married the daughter of a Baptist priest who I considered a great man and we had many long theological discussions. He had a library that reflected his 80+ years. I spent years discussing theology and referencing the books in his own library.
The first time my ex ever raised questions about her reasoning was when she commented about paying for public schools when she never attended one. Now she was the most caring and interested in the lives of others that I had ever met. Shit, I spent 29 years with her and she could knock on my door tonight broke with no other options and she'd be welcome.

Her republican leanings got mellowed out over the first 15 or so years we were together. The real change came somewhere around 1985. She got an offer to take a position in Manhattan that we thought would be a good deal.
We totally missed the mark! Living and transportation costs were well beyond estimates. I had walked away from a career path that had no place but up and a vested retirement with 50% contribution.

I don't denigrate or condemn anyone about their decisions. We've probably all made a few good ones and a few bad ones. I just hope we can all grok the idea that none of us can always be right. Let's just try to make sure we do our best that those at the bottom don't fall through the cracks.

I've got endless empathy but I've got 0 resources. I've been living off a 0% income
Shit if you can spare a few $ a month or have your personal favorites, just stand up and do what you know you need to do.

I seldom listen to the radio in my car. Today I was stuck in traffic and turning the dial looking for traffic news. You did a good job and while he did interrupt you it didn't sound like he hung up on you. Anyway, good for you!

Glad you're here! The best part is getting OUR point of view expressed on the airwaves. How ever it's done. Just at least to push it out there into the electronic public square. We usually have to be pro-active about it. Seems there's less motivation to seek out liberal points of view. The loudest and most frequent loudmouths are usually CONservative.

speak a couple of times), I finally just listened quietly to wait my chance to respond to his question why Obama got a big vote if people prejudge him. As he continued to bloviate the line went dead, signaling that my call was over.

These radio bullies care nothing about discourse; it's all about entertainment (and selling products.)

It's too bad Michael Medved failed as a film critic. It's preferable that he would have stuck with that than to have lowered himself into a career gutter for which, even at that, he is completely incompetent.
