Trayvon Martin shooting: It's not George Zimmerman crying for help on 911 recording, 2 experts say

As the Trayvon Martin controversy splinters into a debate about self-defense, a central question remains: Who was heard crying for help on a 911 call in the moments before the teen was shot?

A leading expert in the field of forensic voice identification sought to answer that question by analyzing the recordings for the Orlando Sentinel.

His result: It was not George Zimmerman who called for help.

Tom Owen, forensic consultant for Owen Forensic Services LLC and chair emeritus for the American Board of Recorded Evidence, used voice identification software to rule out Zimmerman. Another expert contacted by the Sentinel, utilizing different techniques, came to the same conclusion.

This kind of thing is necessary to stop the other side from getting traction with their spin stories.

If there were good recordings of Zimmerman and Martin to compare to the 911 tape then this would be easy.

But since Zimmerman is in hiding and Martin is dead it becomes more about eliminating the possibility that it could be a person with the same physical characteristics.

This was SO EASILY disproved, it's amazing the Zimmermans thought they could get away with it.

The experts quoted in the article only had a recording of Zimmerman because of his previous 911 call. They compared that to the screams.

as evidence (I certainly hope so). The analyses done were not done at the behest of the police, they were done for the Orlando Sentinel.

Having worked for decades with both teenagers and adult men with disablities. I have heard screams on a daily basis. From my experience, that is the cry of a teenager, not an adult man.

Trayvon was obviously a trained ventriloquist.

He actually threw his voice while beating Zimmerman's skull into the sidewalk!

He did this to mock him. "Help, help".

However, I'm going to wait for the FBI announcement before I get too excited.

I'd feel better about it I'd they'd had a copy of Martin's voice to analyze as well. As it is this still bodes well for discrediting Zimmerman.

However, the Orlando Sentinel doesn't seem to have bothered to get one for comparison. I wish they would have taken the extra time to help seal this up once and for all.

This is really just a teaser to what the FBI will say. Zimmerman has pretty much been excluded. Since there were only the two of them our there, it's now just a matter of time until the last bit of doubt is removed.

An eyewitness staring George in the face might have changed the course of things.
