Creeping Sectarianism

The growing divide and the continuing vomit being spewn by the RW reminds me of two things. First I am reminded of the violence and hatred between the Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland which has an economic base as well. The haves and the have nots of their country. The second is the feud between the Hatfields and the McCoys.

The RW has this attitude that its views are the only valid ones. That no one elses views should exist. In fact no one else of a different view should exist at all. It's eliminationist rhetoric's volume grows every day with the likes of Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly and the rest of their ilk.

Anyone who speaks out and does not have their favor is savaged. Their character is assassinated. And they are hounded into silence by the racist sadistic hate machine.

My sense of the situation is that we are creeping into a sectarian divide where the RW will allow nothing at all to get done. The Volt is being trashed and demonized as a "deadly machine" when that meme is a complete lie. They are determined to kill all those jobs because they hate GM now that it is successful. They wish the end of thousands of jobs because they want to take down GM because they hate Obama so much.

We have the same thing is happening happening with the Earth day blackout today that recognizes the fact of global warming. The RW is holding a counter gathering to celebrate "Human progress" by burning as much light and electricity as possible during the same hour.

Tit for tat on every single issue will lead us to a new kind of simmering societal civil cold war. I guess these bastards will not be happy until we have two flags like we did during the civil war. We can have an elephant flag and a donkey flag. Perhaps we will fight over who can use the American flag. Oh I forgot we are doing that already.

This crap is sick and GD the GOP and those miserable selfish little RW cockroaches. As a veteran if I ever have to choose sides I know which one I will choose. And I pray we never have to come to that. I will never accept the kind of country that the GOP wants. I will never accept any kind of theocratic white supremacist corporate owned country they seem to be demanding.

2. I think we're already in a war for the soul of this country

The vicious hatred that's been spewing from the talking heads of the Right like Limbaugh and Coulter for decades has worked just the way many of us foresaw. The racism and homophobia and misogyny has become so prevalent that we're finally fighting back. That's what makes it a war now.

In my opinion all of this has been manipulated into being by the corporate oligarchy and we find ourselves caught up in it whether we want it or not. And it's happening all over the world. We're in for a few rough years. This country stopped being a Constitutional Democracy the minute the Supreme Court selected George Bush as President, overriding our votes. They should have counted those votes in 2000.

It is what it is. We might as well come to terms with it because denial can't last forever and does us no good whatsoever.

3. You Have Made An Observation That Is Truly Unrecognized

You just said something that is so important that I have thought for years now. That is what is happening in the US is happening all over the world.

My take is that the economic collapse was deliberate and fostered by the Bushes and their ilk and the GOP. Europe was set up with bad paper so those "socialist governments would fail. Now we see conservative governments and austerity in places where we have never seen them before. Spain just announced severe austerity policies today. I see RFW movement in placed like Finland, Sweden and Denmark. I think that the uber rich, the IMF, WTO, and World Bank are trying to move the world toward the "new world order" that Bush I mentioned in 1989. The things going on are more than coincidental.

And we'll be fine as a country. You won't have to "pick a side." America has had much rockier times than this - some abuses that were available to the government in the past are no longer possible because of mass media and the internet.

they are yearning for it.
Never in my life have I seen a President as disrespected and hated by his political opposition as there is with President Obama.
They are determined to destroy every ounce of progress made towards fairness and social justice.

They need to be careful what they wish for though as it wont be the simple thing they seem to think.
True american patriots will stand in their way at every turn and they will be defeated.

there has not been any modicum of peace with who is the president since George H.W. Bush.

Carter, Reagan, and Bush I had their haters and their political opponents, but not the mass level of visceral hatred directed toward Clinton, Bush II and Obama.

or any Democratic senator saying that there only purpose was to make sure he served one term.
How about calls for a 2nd amendment solution?
Nope, didnt happen nor did a Democratic minority declare that no matter what he wanted they would vote no.

Shrubs incompetence and stupidity earned him some mocking but he was not hated simply for who he was.

It was to be expected from the mouth-breathing rednecks who have a creepy love of their guns. They're racists who are mostly all talk and will never leave their basements.

The Republican party is on the verge of collapse. Hopefully a better, more moderate party will form from the rubble. Nobody in America wants a theocracy, and the OP's fears are unfounded. What you're seeing right now are the last few bursts from a dying star.

12. The GOP sold its soul with the "Southern Strategy"

... and became a collection of bigots, xenophobes, sociopaths, and fundamentalist zealots. This human debris has always existed, putting ill-written flyers on windshields and muttering hatred over their beers to a coterie of drunks on a Saturday evening before attending some fringe 'church' on a Sunday - a 'church' that owed its existence to proof-texting the Bible to show "them n______ are condemned by God to serve the God-fearing" and opening private 'schools' as refuges from integrated public educamashun.

What was once a political party with decent people like Eisenhower and Everett Dirksen at the helm has become the bought-and-paid-for base for the corporate fascists who supported Mussolini and Hitler, who fought against labor's gains against oppression (e.g. the overpass), and included such antisemitic hate-mongers as Henry Ford, Charles Lindburgh, and Fr. Charles Coughlin (the "radio priest&quot .

Other than ridding itself of the Dixiecrats, the Democratic Party didn't improve much except in relation to the festering pustule on the ass of humanity that's today's GOP. Indeed, the partisan mindset is such that the Democratic Party legitimizes the GOP with insane ramblings about "bipartisanship" and other pretenses that it finds beneficial in perpetuating the status quo of the corrupt "two-party system."

I'm glad I have no children ... for future generations will spit on our graves for leaving them with this infected mess.
