---Sean Hannity, defending George Zimmerman 3/30/12

Time after time, we hear of how Rev. Sharpton has no standing to these speak because ot the Brawley incident, but little is ever said of Hannity's credibility.
As Hannity blindly sides with Zimmerman and attacks Martin's advocates, it's worth revisiting his conservative rush to wrongheaded judgment in 1997, in which the FOX commentator immediately sided with the aggressor against a black guy (I know you're shocked) and helped the guilty party spread lies and attempts of character assassination:
"But Hannity really distinguished himself with his crusading efforts to defend the police against charges of brutality. When Haitian immigrant Abner Louima accused New York City police officers of sodomizing and badly injuring him with a wooden rod in 1997, Hannity used his WABC show for a vicious counter-offensive targeting the victim.
The father of chief defendant Justin Volpe, an NYPD police officer, regularly appeared on show during the 1999 trial. And Hannity and various guests repeated rumors that Louima's injuries resulted from a "gay sex act" and not from police brutality. Playing on the homosexual rumor and inconsistencies in Louima's story, Hannity and his producer sang a parody of Lionel Richie's song "Three Times a Lady," changing the words to "you're once, twice, three times a liar." Hannity stopped referring to the victim as "Lying Louima" only after Volpe confessed to sodomizing Louima with the help of another officer.
Meanwhile, at Hannity & Colmes, the Louima story got somewhat less, and less sordid, play; Hannity only repeated the homosexual rumor once on the national cable show (5/13/99). But there, on national television, Hannity was gaining a reputation as a leading conservative advocate who could be depended on to echo and amplify the latest lines in conservative and Republican thinking."

But, like his palling around with convicted white nationalist terrorist Hal Turner, this looks like something Sean will never be questioned on or have to explain to his audience.

Although I apologize to all insects. At least they're not around long enough to hate for so many years.

Warms the heart to watch it again.

(114 posts)Zimmerman is a good law abiding citizen who volunteers as a neighborhood watch captain.
Martin was a bad apple who was suspended three times and might commit a crime.
Hannity sticks the talking point that Zimmerman's story of being attacked and severely beaten by Martin was confirmed by an eyewitness.
O'Reilly is also insisting that because of Florida's syg law, there is no probable cause to charge Zimmerman.

(36,437 posts)Because one of the two had an arrest record, and it wasn't Trayvon Martin. So, how is the guy with an arrest record a law abiding citizen, while the guy with no arrest record is a "bad apple" who "might commit a crime." Explain that one.

(114 posts)Hannity keeps saying that Zimmerman is a really good person who is a mentor of many black kids. He immediately dismisses any mention of Zimmerman being racist. On the other hand, he always insinuates that we don't know anything about Martin. I think that Hannity already convicted Martin of a crime that he didn't commit.

(36,437 posts)Since you seem to be coming here and mimicking Hannity, but trying to hide behind this indirect discourse as "Oh well, that's just what this other guy says."
So, point blank: do you believe that Hannity is correct in these assertions?
Are you able to answer that question, or are you just going to give us another monologue wherein you repeat Hannity's talking points?
