Well, This Explains Gun Nuts – Distrusting People Are Dumber

Have you ever tried arguing with a gun nut? In their minds (which are expressed with a lot of misspelled words and a limited vocabulary), it seems, the world is a very ugly place. Everyone is a predator, just waiting to rob, rape or shoot them. After these arguments, I tend to go away feeling sorry for them more than angry about them — at least until they stick their gun where it doesn’t belong. It turns out there may be a reason that your dumbest Facebook friends are also the biggest gun nuts. According to a recent study, basic human trust increases with IQ.

People with higher IQ's tend to possess more money and live in areas where there is no -consequence- for trusting the wrong person other than a little bit of tarnished reputation or slander. The rest of us can pay for that mistake with our lives in a very literal sense.

As an afterthought (read: edit), I thought I'd note that I'm not arguing in favor of carrying guns. I'm not arguing with anything other than the conclusion drawn. Just in case anyone was curious.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concealed_carry_in_the_United_States
The number of permits revocations is typically small.[4][8][9] The grounds for revocation in most states, other than expiration of a time-limited permit without renewal, is typically the commission of a gross misdemeanor or felony by the permit holder. While these crimes are often firearm-related (including unlawful carry), a 3-year study of Texas crime statistics immediately following passage of CHL legislation found that the most common crime committed by CHL holders that would be grounds for revocation was actually DUI, followed by unlawful carry and then aggravated assault. The same study concluded that Texas CHL holders were always less likely to commit any particular type of crime than the general population, and overall were 13 times less likely to commit any crime.(10)

When someone cites wiki-anything, that can be added to by the addled, then toss out facts about Texas....and you want ME to believe it...you're barking up the wrong tree. The OP stands, and still calls bullshit.

Head firmly in the sand. Shocking.

Permit holders are not angels, but they are an unusually law-abiding collection of citizens. In Florida, for example, permit holders are about 300 times less likely to perpetrate a gun crime than Floridians without permits. Florida's experience has been copied nationwide. This should not be at all surprising: A person could carry a concealed handgun without a permit and, unless he gives himself away by committing some other offense, he would never be caught. Hence permit applicants tend to be those citizens willing to pay a large fee (usually more than $100) to comply with a law they could probably break with impunity.
