Officer, teen, and suspect killed in Norfolk shooting

It unfolded in a flash.

Gunfire, a Jeep racing through the streets, a series of shootings that left three crime scenes.

In twenty minutes Friday night, three people were dead: A Norfolk police officer. A 17-year-old Norfolk Christian Upper School student. The gunman, killed by police after a struggle.

Another officer was wounded.

"Neighbors called Brown “Wyatt Earp” because he always wore a gun in a holster on his hip, Howe said. Neighbors said he wasn’t threatening or confrontational, just that he always had a gun.

He was convicted for assault of a police officer on Oct. 23, 2010, according to court documents. The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor, and he was sentenced to a year in prison in June 2011. He was also convicted of carrying a loaded weapon in July 2012. He received a one-year suspended sentence."
