Heads Up - 'Cosmos' Visits Venus to Talk Climate Change tonight

If you think the deniers' heads exploded already, watch them after tonight's episode

The Spaceship of the Imagination is headed for the hot and hellish landscape of Venus.

This Sunday night (June 1), the Fox TV series "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" will send viewers to Earth's evil twin to learn about the greenhouse effect and climate change.

Venus' dense atmosphere is mostly made up of carbon dioxide, with small doses of nitrogen and sulfuric acid. This composition creates a runaway greenhouse effect that bakes Venus to even hotter temperatures than the surface of Mercury, the planet closest to the sun.

It would be great if they can continue this series for future seasons.

Problem is - a lot of the points he makes are too long term for climate deniers to wrap their minds around. I think maybe that's part of why they don't like him. They can tell he's smarter than they are . . . they're just not sure why.

In fact, he brought it up in several prior episodes, tangentially. The series is brilliant. Can't wait for tonight's episode!

I've heard a lot of good things about Cosmos in general.....Let us only hope that the show stays realistic and doesn't start delving into the "Earth could become just like Venus!" craziness, that some other productions have.

Al Gore made the whole thing up . . . in order to hurt the oil industry. Besides, the atmosphere on Venus is 96.5% CO2. On Earth, it just crossed 400 parts per million. You know what percentage that is? 0.04%. See? Science proves that Venus and Earth are nothing alike.

Not that science carries any weight. Check the Bible. Nowhere does it say Earth is like Venus. You know what the Bible does say is like Venus? Here's a hint: Venus is sometimes called the morning star, which is a loose translation of Lucifer! How does that coincide with the "Neil deGrasse Tyson is a Satanist conspiracy theory?"

(<== Please tell me that wasn't needed.)

Pretty amazing. I think the longest one of the Venera probes lasted on the surface, functional, was an hour or so.
