The Lounge isn't everyone's favorite DU forum. A lot of people, myself included, almost never go there at all. For anyone who doesn't use the Lounge, GD is a place they can post occasional personal things. It causes no harm, and anyone can simply skip clicking on a thread that talks about kittens if they choose.

I see lots of DU Recs for this thread. That means that people are enjoying it. I can't see any reason that it shouldn't be in GD, frankly.

Depending on how many she has, I'll probably be taking them all. My last cat passed away a few years ago and I'm ready to have some again... Gotta see how many she ends up with. I think I can handle as many as three but more then that would kind of be tough, just not enough space for all the litter boxes

They got a pretty young girl from the SPCA and thought, "she must be happy, she's eating a lot and gaining weight..." She was "with kittens" when they got her. She had 4 kittens, 2 died (not uncommon with a young cat's first litter) and they kept her 2 surviving sons. All fixed and happy now.

Please neuter your cats and dogs unless you are breeding specifically.

I have neutered all my animals, even when they were purebred. We need to get a grip on this problem of unwanted animals.

Not to say the kittens aren't adorable. They always are, and that is part of the problem. But lack of education is the biggest problem.

My brother thinks she is done with just the two... I don't know, she still looks like there may be another. Anyone know how long it can take for her to birth all? It has been about 5 or 6 hours now since the first.

If she is still having contractions after six hours with no results you might want to call a vet. Complications are rare, however. You can tell if she is still having contractions by feeling her tummy or noting if she is straining. Also, I'm remember panting; queens tend to pant while in labor. Other than that, I'd Goggle it. After decades of rescuing adult cats, 2 years ago I rescued a tiny calico kitten who wandered out of the woods behind my house. Gotta say, kittens are a special kind of fun. And maybe it's from having love and attention constantly lavished on her from such an early age, but she's retained her kittenish playfulness and joie de vivre!

so I grabbed the box I'd prepared for her and put her into that in my lap. She ended up having four of them, all healthy.

It's a real compliment that your brother's cat wanted her kittens to be born someplace that smelled strongly of your brother. She felt safest there.
