While promoting your U-Verse.
Hell, they even came by trying to get me to sign up for their fiber optic system and telling me how much better it was than their DSL which I have.
They got an earful from me on my customer dissatisfaction with them.

(41,694 posts)My service has gone downhill since they took over Southwestern Bell. When it was SBC, if I had a problem the phone was answered by the third ring, I didn't have to wade through 10 minutes worth of options and I talked to someone here in Austin. It never took more than 15 minutes total time to get the problem resolved. Now it takes 15 minutes to finally get a real person in India reading from a script. On the SBC website you could enter your phone number and find out if there were service problems in your area-that disappeared when AT&T took over.
Every month there's a new fee tacked on the bill. My bill for landline and 6 mbps DSL went from $50/mo 5 years ago to $85/mo now. About 2/3 of that increase is all the fees they've come up with.
Like 3 different line subscriber fees on the same two wires. Of course here the options are AT&T or Time-Warner-not much of a choice. When I dropped their long distance, since I never used it, it had gone up to $10/mo with the fees, they charged me a one time $9 fee to turn it OFF.

(4,879 posts)once they disconnect that copper landline, you won't be getting it back. AT&T sucks bigtime. I just hate dealing with them.
I've told them a thousand times that I don't even own a digital television, much less have wireless equipment.

(30,884 posts)Really lousy customer service on my land line for years because they were too damn cheap to replace THEIR equipment. Each time I called for service it was liking jumping through hoops just to get an appointment. Over a two year period I had at least six service calls for the same problem. A couple of the techs told me unofficially that it was a fixable problem but the company was busy rolling out U-verse.
I still have a land line through my cable provider. It's cheap and always clear sound quality. To hell with AT&T.

Our cell phone bill has only gone up about $6.00 over eight years, our
cable bill, on the other hand, has gone up $35.00 in less time and that is with us
dropping equipment and channel tiers.
I see many Seniors around my parts are going to antennas..We are considering doing the same
for much of our television coverage.
