Pres. Obama: "We still get an American soldier back if he’s held in captivity. Period. Full stop.”

Obama defiant on Bergdahl release: "We still get an American soldier back. Period." http://thkpr.gs/1p4b1fu

On Tuesday, President Obama defended his administration’s decision to bring home U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from Taliban captivity, pushing back against critics who argue that Bergdahl’s public protest of America’s mission in Afghanistan and possible desertion to Pakistan in 2009 made him unworthy of rescue.

The United States has always had a pretty sacred rule, and that is: we don’t leave our men or women in uniform behind,” Obama said in
Warsaw, Poland. “Regardless of the circumstances, we still get an American soldier back if he’s held in captivity. Period. Full stop.”

I hope he can do so, although the Marine is being held as a criminal, not a POW. n/t ColesCountyDem Jun 2014 #5

. . . the State Department said Secretary of State John Kerry brought up the case on his recent diplomatic trip to Mexico City.

“We’ve been very engaged. We’ll continue to press the case,” said State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki.

The FORMER MARINE was counseled by his lawyer to lie to the judge (big mistake, no matter where). And he crossed the border repeatedly before the time he was arrested.

He is no longer in the service, and this is a criminal case.

There is like zero parallels here. Well, except that it's become a political football in the US, while law enforcement quietly moves on in Baja.

...the more every active-duty and veteran service member is gonna think, "Do I want these fuckers in charge when I get captured in enemy territory? I DON'T THINK SO."

Keep it up, GOPpies.
