Why driverless cars are inevitable: Texting.

Texting is becoming the dominant form of human communication. People cannot walk down the street, work out at the gym, eat dinner at a restaurant without texting. I spent 11 days on a jury, and the woman who sat next to me could not go more than 10 minutes without texting. Even more telling is that for a of jobs, being in constant contact through texts and emails is required. If go more than 2 hours without checking my BB, I get upwards of 75 emails that I have to read.

Driving a car without the ability to text is not going to work.

3. I can't wait

For one, it will save lives from all those idiots who can't seem to put down their hand held devices while behind the wheel.

But I am thinking about my future, as I age, I welcome a car that will keep me mobile for as long as possible. One of the things that is the most difficult for elderly people to give up is the mobility/independence that a car brings. I hope that when that time comes, driverless cars are mainstream and affordable.

For now, though, I still love to get on the road and drive. But when I am behind the wheel, don't expect me to do anything else, even participate in conversations. Driving is a full time job.

But...it was bumper to bumper and the smoke column was bad. I needed to know if evacuation orders were in place? Aka, whether to go get the dog and get my nephews to my place. Fortunately the Evac orders were on the other side of the freeway I still got stuck on the scanner and topo maps (and a full tank of gas)

And that is as close as you will get me to pick up device, or calling 911.

I should add, while my cell is registered for reverse 911 I am not sure if it is triggered by GPS and cell tower location. That would be a good question to ask...

texting has nothing to do with work. and that the work related ones are the ones that people are more likely to wait to answer.

Driveless cars are stupid just like the proposed underwater subway linking China to the US, it would make more sense to ban all cars and force everyone to ride the Bus or use other methods of mass transit.

I don't see a future where thousands of the robo cars on the road unless its a hybrid between robo and manual.
