Can Bowe Bergdahl Be Tied to 6 Lost Lives?............ Facts Are Murky

Did the search for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl cost the lives of American soldiers?

Since last weekend’s prisoner exchange in which Afghan insurgents turned over Sergeant Bergdahl after five years of captivity, a number of the men who served with him have called him a deserter. Some have gone further, blaming him for the deaths of six to eight soldiers.
That second claim is hardening into a news media narrative. CNN has reported as fact that “at least six soldiers died” looking for Sergeant Bergdahl after senior American military officials say he wandered off his base. The Daily Beast published an essay by a former member of Sergeant Bergdahl’s battalion, Nathan Bradley Bethea, who linked the search to the deaths of eight soldiers whom he named. “He has finally returned,” Mr. Bethea wrote. “Those men will never have the opportunity.”

But a review of casualty reports and contemporaneous military logs from the Afghanistan war shows that the facts surrounding the eight deaths are far murkier than definitive — even as critics of Sergeant Bergdahl contend that every American combat death in Paktika Province in the months after he disappeared, from July to September 2009, was his fault.

then you could in turn blame 100's of thousands of deaths on bush/cheney, etc.

Plus the wounded, maimed lives of the thousands of American's on these same criminals because of the lies they told to get us into this war, oh and the trillions of American $$$ poured into the sand.

I think it's pretty friggin' obvious that they are responsible for the deaths from the attacks on 9/11. How in the heck they got a pass on that from the American people is something I will never be able to reconcile.

If someone's puppy dies now, the republicans say it's OBAMA's fault. Yet we had the worst ever attack on American soil under Bush Cheney, when they demonstrably had left the gate wide open and diverted the security guards .... and somehow they were "heroes"??? If I had any shred of faith left in the "American people" as a collective unit, remaining after the (s)election of 2000 (nope there wasn't much left, truthfully), it was gone when I saw Bush's approval ratings soar after 9/11.

They seem to suggest that these claims are entirely exaggerated, if not made up. For once, I thank Chelsea Manning for her leaks ... though the records used to cast doubt on the claims in this article were most certainly never intended to assist the government's case.

and tried to use them for political gain needs to answer for this. Those families of the dead have gone through the grieving process, and are now seeing their loved ones being exploited, five years later, in public to sway opinion against the Bergdahl deal. No wonder that some of these platoon mates who are blabbing to the press are being offered legal aid by Richard Grenell. There should be some real examination of this.
