Fox’s Shepherd Smith contradicts network ‘yakety yak’ on Bergdahl

“If you desert or commit treason, you have to be proved to have done so,” Smith said on his show on Tuesday. “We can’t just decide because some people come on television and yakety yak, and we’ve got a report of this and a report of that and that’s what happened. As the Army said, as the Pentagon said, you bring them home. You bring them home first, and then you investigate.”

As left as rich, corporate media allows, on the corporate ideological spectrum.

We talk about limited issues, we omit issues like onerous trade agreements, the debt they've caused due to 25 million lost jobs over 30 years, or futile wars of aggression, or the killing of the death penalty. We obsess like the rest of the networks, over things like Bergdahl, while we're still stewing in a huge unemployment crisis, and have yet to do anything about it. We talk about gays, guns, and abortion, like the rest. We serve as a repeater for FOX, at times, rather than forging out into issues that actually help the left. We put on shows that are completely right wing.

On the weekends, we completely remove most political shows, putting a bunch of prisoners on air, during the time when most people could actually watch political shows.

MSNBC is "left?" you say? Why is that? FOX pushes ever further right. MSNBC gets dragged along with them, never taking a chance to anger their corporate benefactors.

person is in the room because some wingnut adult is watching Fox and similar cases where some non political types might hear something that isn't so hateful.

for FOX. Is Shepard exempt from the meetings? Perhaps it's FOX's way of pretending they're open to all points of view .. and Shep just happens to be their one of few (notable) token gays? FOX couldn't handle two Prima Donnas with the likes of Scarborough and O'Reilly .. my god there'd be a cat fight for sure.

I'll always remember his genuine dismay at the conditions he saw in New Orleans immediately after Katrina.
He'll never get anywhere on Fox because of his basic decency.

Maybe he has something on O'Reilly or Ailes because it's mystifying, for more than one reason, why they still put him on. Maybe MSNBC could swap Scarborough for Smith? They would both fit better on the other's station.

This country is becoming stratified between the haves and the have nots. Killing net neutrality is just another fuck you aimed at the working class.

We see the rich get away with nearly destroying our economy, billionaires and their children can rape and kill, but never have to pay the price. We see the rich getting tax breaks, and the working class get their wages cut, services cut, and pensions raided. What kind of message are you and the other members of the oligarch sending to us?
