Charles Krauthammer backs Bergdahl deal

By KENDALL BREITMAN | 6/5/14 8:33 AM EDT Updated: 6/5/14 8:40 AM EDT

Charles Krauthammer says he supports President Barack Obama’s deal to bring Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl home.

“Had the choice been mine I would have made the same choice,” Krauthammer told Fox News’ “Special Report” on Wednesday. “It’s a difficult decision, and I would not attack those who have done otherwise.”

Krauthammer said those in the West “put a value on the individual human life the way that the ones at the other end of the table don’t,” specifically citing an example in which Israelis had to release 1,000 terrorists in exchange for one sergeant who had been taken captive.

These are dangerous militants, but we have long engaged in and all other countries in the West have engaged in hostage swaps where the West always comes out on the short end,” Krauthammer said.

Or he's just making sense for a change. Whatever the case, he'll find the wheels on the bus go round and round, over his head for this.

Afghanistan, because their government will then take custody, is absurd. Logic disappeared when facts became irrelevant to American media.

He can't criticize this without criticizing Israel and that is something he will not do.

release--which means their other arguments have mostly run out of steam. It's ludicrous to suggest Obama should have had a demeanor of "Sorry we had to do this, we had no choice but to bring this worthless shitweasel home" when Bergdahl has NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH MISCONDUCT, whatever the evidence or allegations. And as sad as it is that others may have died looking for him (still to be definitely proven), I'll wager that lots of deaths in combat are due to misjudgments, and mistakes, and negligence, and incompetence, and it never gets publicized or entered into the records. It's the nature of war. It's also ludicrous that one wouldn't cheer his return in the face of the fact that the guy survived five years as captive by one of the most insanely brutal organizations on earth. You can't help but be happy for his family, if you are in any way NOT a fucking psychopath.
