My dad is still a spunky old guy

My dad, who is a Liberal from the word go, is currently in a rehab facility trying to relearn walking and lifting because he's had some problems with those things. He nearly died, lived to tell about it, and is fighting back to be at least somewhat independent.
Anyway, that is not the point of this post. In his rehab facility, they do not have private rooms except in extreme cases. They obviously have private showers and bathrooms, as well as having individual TV's. His most recent roomie was watching fox noise and had it turned up loud. My dad asked him to turn down the volume a bit and the guy, as well as his son in law refused. My dad asked him again, only a bit more forcefully. The guys again said no. Then dad started yelling to "Turn off that goddam propaganda!", which drew the attention of some of the nursing staff. Long story short, they ended up telling the two to stop their arguing and instructed both of them to put in some sort of wireless headphones while watching tv. So my ol' man watches his MSNBC block in prime time, or sports, and the other guy watches his crap and they just don't speak with each other. The nurses have assured us that 1- Dad will be well enough to go home in a couple of weeks, and 2- they will insure that the other guy doesn't blast the volume on his tv, especially when it comes to news channels.
Moral of the story- Some 84 year old working class heroes are great people and will never ever back down. And I'm as greatful as hell. Thanks dad. And thanks to the nursing staff as well. They work their tails off and often do not get the recognition they deserve.

I'm surprised the facility offers MSNBC though! That isn't in the same low-rent tier as faux.

I'm not sure what he would have done for Mr. Pox News--he considered it for total morons and never watched it. Quite likely he'd have requested headphones for his sports shows so he could hear what was going on. Deprived of an unwilling trapped audience, Mr Pox News would likely have gotten his own headphones and turned into his own sports.

He wouldn't have been terribly polite about Pox, though. I can hear him now as he requested the headsets so he could avoid THAT CRAP.

My grandmother once had a problem in her facility. My grandma's bed was by the window and her roommate kept opening the window after my grandmother repeatedly asked her to leave it closed. Finally, my grandma said to the roommate she would smack her if she opened the window again. Well, social services got involved and grandma had to appear in court before a judge. She was escorted to court by a uniformed deputy sheriff. She ended up in a different nursing home, but that was good because it was closer to her son, my uncle. By the way, the deputy was her grandson, my cousin. The other lady was not injured in any way. Her new roommate complained about her too.

That was about 25 years ago. My uncle ended up dying in that same rehab place a year and a half ago. He was an 87 year old WWII navy vet.

We're all sick of that vicious propaganda being shoved in our faces. Good on him for putting a stop to it.

Your father should tell the facility that he will sue them for malpractice if that happens again.
