Republicans getting a lot of Air Time claiming President Obama got people killed rescuing Bergdahl.

Last edited Fri Jun 6, 2014, 10:51 AM - Edit history (1)

Democrats need to remind them -- and the country:

For some reason, the news media ignore that news, that history, that reality.

26. It goes back further than that. the Right blamed the media for the loss in Vietnam....

The message they learned from that war was once you lose popular support for a war the war is lost.

Doesn't MATTER if the cause is just or not. They feel war is just another product that you sell like toothpaste. It's all about the propaganda. Then they blamed a newspaper for Nixon getting tossed out on his ass. Mind you, it doesn't MATTER what Nixon DID, it's all the fault of the paper that REPORTED it.

To them, that was the last straw.

The media began the shift to the Right under Carter. The Hostage Crisis was their baby. Every night the news would start up with a number on the screen for all of America to see. It was the number of days the hostages had been held and then went on to talk about how USELESS the grinning peanut farmer was in getting them back and OH LOOK!!! There's Reagan on the campaign trail wearing a white cowboy hat! There's gonna be a new sheriff in town partner!

After Reagan got in he eliminated the fairness doctrine so no more "Equal time" and Sunday Talk went hard right. Editors for all the major publications were replaced over time with conservatives. The mantra was that America had "grown up" and the Hippie era was over and the Yuppie era had begun. "America is a Center / Right Country" became the mantra in DC. Investigative reporting was replaced with parroting Right Wing talking points.

Then Dukakis lost to the media assault from the Right and as far as the Democrats were concerned, that was it. The Liberal Era was DEAD. They needed to shift to the Right and they ran Bill Clinton who picked Al Gore as his running mate. Now THIS will crack you up. The choice of Al Gore made the Liberals furious because he was a Conservative. Clinton said he HAD to pick Gore because he personally was too liberal and he needed a conservative to balance out the ticket and get the Reagan Democrats to vote for him.

Of course the newly formed DLC composed of Conservatives would then tell the Liberal base that Clinton's win had nothing to do with the Republican Convention in Texas where they ran on a hard right platform that would ban abortion and make homosexuality ILLEGAL on a national level. They claimed his win was due to the "Center / Right" myth and the rest of us were stuck in the "Stoner Era" 60s. Hell, some of us they figured were stuck in the "New Deal" 30s.

It's only recently that DC has admitted the country has shifted away from the Right. They won't go so far as to claim it's "Liberal" because that is still considered to be a slur at their gin soaked cocktail parties.

I figure Dick had an arm around him in the Whitehouse one day after ruminating about all the billions he could garner for Halliburton and the money his monkey boy's family could also make and whispered to him "sometimes money trumps peace", and dubya, completely devoid of grasping the implications beyond that Uncle Dick said something 'profound'...he blurts it to the press.

Same thing with this gem, "you gotta catapult the propaganda"

George H.W. Bush: "You mean for sleeping or decongestant? Great."

From Spin by Brian Springer, an outstanding view behind the facade of the television screen and the characters it portrays.
Its perspective is scarier than most any movie I know because it's what Corporate McPravda don't show.

Unfortunately, there are now too many politicians in Washington who LOVE war. Especially when they (or their kids) aren't fighting it.

brain cancer thanx to KBR's "burn pits." He is just one of many cases
of cancer thanx to bush and Cheney's unneeded war.

Each human being represents a universe of infinite possibilities. The loss of one affects us all, including the warmongers and traitors who lied America into Iraq and Afghanistan and new wars for profit.

I, too, will remain angered and disgusted and sickened at the sight of the smirking idiot and the sneering warmonger until they are in prison.

calling Obama a Muslim, Kenyan, socialist. Truth is irrelevant to these people. I'd love to make every one of them watch the Maddow specials Hubris - Selling the Iraq War & Why We Did It but they would likely just call it left-wing propaganda.

Yes, we need to keep reminding people; I'd say throw it in their face. But until we can get enough people to vote against the right-wing 'war is good' machine these tragedies will continue.
