Colbert Lampoons Cable News for Jumping to Conclusions on ‘Bergdghazi’

by Andrew Kirell | 8:17 am, June 6th, 2014

Thursday evening’s Colbert Report took cable news (mostly Fox News) to task for jumping to a whole mess of conclusions regarding recently-freed American soldier Bowe Bergdahl, who was held in captivity by the Taliban for five years.

“It’s a scandal some are calling Bergdghazi,” Colbert said. “Of course we want to get every soldier back. But do we want to get every soldier back? Because the TV has some questions.”

Cut to: Various cable news hosts asking whether Bergdahl is a “hero” or “deserter,” along with reports that he had become “disillusioned with the war in Afghanistan” (or, “82% of Americans,” as Colbert reworded it).

In addition, from cable news “we are learning that Bergdahl has a history of un-American behavior dating back to his childhood in Sun Valley, Idaho.” Cut to: Fox News pundits discussing the soldier’s dabbling in ballet, including slimeball Keith Ablow‘s psychoanalysis of the hobby.
