Shock poll: Even red staters want to save planet

By Greg Sargent at the Washington Post

Republicans are reacting gleefully today to the announcement of new EPA rules curbing carbon emissions at existing power plants, certain (as always) that anything they can portray as Obummer Job Crushing Energy-Tax Hiking Big Gummint can only help hasten Dems’ doom.

But a new Washington Post/ABC News poll finds that “a lopsided and bipartisan majority of Americans support federal limits on greenhouse gas emissions,” and not only that, “most are willing to stomach a higher energy bill to pay for it.”

Wait, but what about in red states, where the battle for the Senate will play out?

It turns out that even in red states, support for federal curbs on greenhouse gas emissions is almost as widespread as among Americans overall. According to data that the Post polling team sent my way, there just isn’t any significant difference between red and blue state residents on this issue:

They are the ones who have and will continue to be devastated by climate change. applegrove Jun 2014 #3
Yep. Not unlike the way they are devastated by all the other republican policies they support Iris Jun 2014 #5
You've got a point. If they haven't reacted to the economic collapse why would they notice applegrove Jun 2014 #6

makes background checks, minimum wage increases, and greenhouse gas cuts issues that has pretty lofty support (even among Republicans). So why won't they vote like that, then?

I think some of them are coming around, and some will vote for a democrat, others will simply not vote at all because they may not like why the republicans are doing, but they just can't vote for a "democrat" no matter what. Most of them are older voters, and I do think that the younger voters are starting to see just how insane the republican party really is, and they will be the ones that help take down the GOP in years to come.

I just hope that enough voters see through the GOP BS that they are doing what the "majority" of american want them to do. It's always been a pack of lies, we just need to get the facts out so people can see just how terrible things will be if they keep on putting republicans back in office.
