The race for a local seat in the Iowa Legislature was still undecided Wednesday with just one vote separating the two candidates.

A tiny number of provisional ballots to be counted on Thursday may, or may not, decide the outcome in the Republican primary for House District 15, according to the Pottawattamie County Auditor’s office. As of Wednesday afternoon, businessman John Blue had 275 votes with Troy Arthur, a banker, having 274 votes.

The Auditor’s office plans to count the provisional ballots on Thursday, though it’s unknown if any of them had this race, since it was not a countywide race. House District 15 covers Carter Lake and northwest Council Bluffs. Until recently, the representative had been Mark Brandenburg.

The county’s Provisional Board will review the matter today, said County Auditor Marilyn Jo Drake.

I'm of the mind that mid-term and primary elections are more important than the big presidential blow-outs - and I am getting more and more angry at voters who can't be bothered to get off their rear ends and cast a vote.
