Relief followed by immense schadenfreude...

Is what I feel every time I read about another US state overturning a gay marriage ban.

We are watching the incremental dismantling of US Christian Fundamentalism right before our very eyes and, most hilariously, before the eyes of all of the disillusioned assholes.

There are few things more satisfying than knowing the enemy is being psychologically tormented by the knowledge that the world is moving on and embracing diversity and love. I see their resistance changing from one of false superiority to utter chaos and resignation.

While this certainly is not defined by the actions of one group, I must concede that this collective victory, which continues to grow, is one of the greatest of our time.

We are witness to an immense shift in rhetoric, belief and action that I hope to see immortalized in history books before I grow old.

1. If not for the advances in LGBT rights, there would be very little to hope (or cheer) for nowadays.

But these court decisions are a reminder that human progress - in general - is still possible.

That's such a great and beautiful way to put this rift of change throughout this country. May that "incremental dismantling" spread to all the issues that have faced us for so long, and may peace and equality reign.

for the sheer pleasure of hearing certain heads explode around here - one Pastor Jerry Prevo from the Anchorage Baptist Temple and one Jim Minnery of the Alaska Family Council to be precise. It will be sweet.

(the spell check didn't seem to like it) and touching on the breaking down of mean and judgmental oppressive religiosity. Thanks for saying it.

I think the exact same thing, and it's a liberating feeling.

after we celebrate, of course

I have to add, it feels weird seeing people come around to think the way I have always thought regarding gay marriage, and how nice it would be if ALL beliefs where conservatives are on the wrong side would collapse

i am still in shock about it all. the 90's seemed so bleak on LGBT issues with DOMA and DADT under a DEM president.
