PARIS (AP) Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has told people treating him at a U.S. military medical facility in Germany that he was tortured, beaten and held in a cage by his Taliban captors in Afghanistan after he tried to escape, a senior U.S. official said Sunday.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss what Bergdahl has revealed about the conditions of his captivity.

(849 posts)If tortured I wonder why the elder Bergdahl has gone to such lengths to
look like his sons captors
speak like his sons captors
believe as his sons captors
This could explain why the son may not be so eager to see the parents
or why the parents haven't been flown over for reunion with the son.

(16,926 posts)There are many who do not agree with the war or the conduct of it. That does not make one a Taliban.
He chose to learn the language and culture of the land to attempt to gain the ear of his son's captors, not to attend classes on bomb building.
