A snake`s belly is higher

Vile comments about Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl and his parents just keep coming. It`s as though Republicans, so very pleased with the hateful atmosphere they`ve created, are competing to put an end to any shred of national decorum we have left. End decorum, end compassion, end empathy, end anything that could be construed as a nod of understanding. If Republican Rush Limbaugh can joke about hungry children in America going dumpster diving, I suppose we shouldn`t be shocked at other Republicans suggesting Sgt. Bergdahl`s father might be a Taliban sympathizer because he has a beard. Wonder if their beard hang-up applies to Jesus?

Sgt. Bergdahl is still in a hospital, far from recovered, yet these same Republicans have all but branded him a traitor. Many of the Republican War Moralists never served a day of combat in their lives. Not one day. I believe those vocal folks are called arm-chair generals. Like Cheney. Get five deferments but be an expert on war.

Many of these same Republicans with their cold, empty answers for most any difficult, heartbreaking situation, have not walked even a quarter of an inch in tough shoes. Either they had it handed to them or they sent someone else to do their dirty work. That`s one reason they lack empathy. They offer ignorant black & white talk. Never any gray, never any variables, never any reasons why.

The Bergdahl Treatment is what we can continue to expect from Republicans. Remember Hurricane Katrina? Remember sending soldiers to war with defective bulletproof vests? Remember the gun raffles after Gabby`s horrific injuries? Remember the NRA speeches after all those precious little school children were shot? Remember Trayvon? You name a national story that made most Americans gasp....and soul-search....and I`ll show you demeaning quotes from a herd of heartless Republicans.

We can not stoop to that level, no matter what.
