Just disgust: Mob sex assaults on women overshadow Egyptian inauguration

Because nothing expresses the joy of electing a military strong man like raping women.

(CNN) -- Uniformed Egyptian police pull a woman in nothing but her underclothes from a frenzied mob.

"Get back boy! Get back!" the officers say as one lifts his pistol into the air.

Large patches of skin on the victim appear bloodied and raw as she struggles to walk toward a police van with hordes of men still fighting for a handful of her body.

Moments later, she falls to the ground, naked. Police carry her into the vehicle, seemingly incapable of thwarting the crowd.

In the background, revelers set off fireworks and wave flags to celebrate the inauguration of Egypt's new president.

rape and murder. I'm sure that the dead raped woman would think that where her life was ruined/ended would consider it the most dangerous place.

Please don't minimize, it's insulting.

YOU are minimizing the culture that enable rape in Egypt. Period. Simple. You should be able to grasp that... but then you are White T, so....

As a result, the nations that these issues are wide-spread in are given a free pass because "It happens everywhere else too! Who are we to judge?" minimizes the problems. If a culture is said to be like everyone else, there is less urgency to change.

It's like people who say, "Female genital mutilation happens everywhere!" It's culturally sensitive, but it completely ignores that these issues occur in certain environments with certain cultures / in certain countries.

I agree that rape culture is worldwide, but Egypt also needs to own this issue and fix it.
