Human Rights Watch Daily Brief, 10 June ( The world's first ever summit on sexual violence in war )

The world's first ever summit on sexual violence in war begins today in London, to tackle what's being called one of the "great mass crimes" of modern times. Spearheaded by British foreign secretary William Hague and US actor and activist Angelina Jolie, the summit will see heads of state, NGOs and survivors come together to find practical ways to tackle the scourge of wartime rape.

#TimeToAct on wartime rape; DRC survivors seek justice; chaos in Iraq; Egypt gripped by "worst rights crisis in modern history"; where is Sombath Somphone?; Congolese warlord to face ICC; cottoning onto child labour in Uzbekistan; & stamping out forced labour elsewhere.
