No link yet, but
"Tuesday after a Senate intelligence briefing, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) responded to criticisms being leaked out about U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's platoon mates after having criticized him for being a "deserter."
"I have one other comment that doesn't have anything to do with the hearing and that is I understand attacking people who disagree with the president's decision," McCain said. "I do not agree with attacking the reputation of these young men who served in the same platoon with Sgt. Bergdahl. to accuse them of swift boating is unacceptable'"

But I guess convicting a guy who spent 5 years in captivity of "treason", "desertion", "aiding and abetting" and "getting troops killed"...all with absolutely no facts is perfectly acceptable with good ole Johnny.
I'll make a deal with you Mc-Dumbass, we'll stop identifying the wingnutty idiocy, partisanship, hatred toward Presidnet Obama, Other-Than-Honorable discharges, blatant social media racism and downright "griftiness" of some of Bergdahl's platoon mates...as soon as you and the other asshatted wingnuts in your fucking deplorable political party stop convicting a POW in abstentia
Fuck you ---- you Piece of Shit----and Where's the fucking money you owe us for the 4 fucking planes you crashed???

It is time to retire this bastard.

(46,416 posts)I mean, it's amazing how fast the networks and TV programs snapped these guys up, just plucked them out of obscurity--Richard Grenell is simply the fastest PR guy evah. And these guys are just SOOO MAD AT BOWE BERGDAHL!! All of them, just spontaneously angry. Uh huh.

Up until this incident, what happened to Kerry was the most despicable thing I had ever seen in politics...

(59,503 posts)Kerry was and is an extremely strong person who had various platforms in 2004 and since, so all but the far right know that he was a hero in both the war and speaking against the war. He also was fortunate to have been born into a very close, loving family and extended family. Not to mention the number of extremely close friends - some dating back to college or before. The fact that the right continues to smear him is because he has a credibility they would still love to destroy.
From many accounts, Bergdahl was a person with some problems even before he was captured. I can't imagine being captive for even a day. This man was a captive - possibly tortured and mistreated. In a way, his story is closer to John McCain's than to Kerry's.
After all that, I can't imagine the impact on him of returning - not to his quiet former life, but to a cacophony of right wing smears and death threats against not just him, but against his parents. What is amazing to me is that it was the right who honored even LT Calley after he was convicted!

(16,254 posts)there were people who questioned McCain's POW experience and whether or not he was being treated better than the others. I believe the accusations were up to a certain point after which the treatment changed radically. Anyone ever read about his POW experiences?
