ABC Evening News hyperbole on Cantor loss: "What are Americans trying to tell Washington?"

First, this is one district in the nation, and a gerrymandered RW one to boot. Second, this is a Republican party fight and does not reflect the opinions of ALL Americans. Third, if we on the left let this sort of thing become the lingua franca of the election season, then let us just give it away. We need pushback the minute these things get launched. BTW, Jonathan Karl is in hog heaven tonight. He's practically drooling.

1. Everything you say is correct. In addition, cross over votes may have also influenced the results

which makes the typical brainless analysis even more worthless

but so far, only Raw Story got this one right, "All things considered, Eric Cantor probably lost because he’s a dick." http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/06/11/all-things-considered-eric-cantor-probably-lost-because-hes-a-dick/

That doesn't mean Brat is any better, far from it. He won simply because he's not Eric Cantor.

4. This is an opportunity to drag both parties further right.

The Corporate Media will NOT miss this opportunity to do so. It is also possible they are simply providing a pretext for WHEN the parties both move further right. It's all about setting the table and providing plausible reasons for moving further right in this country.

The media very rarely examine specific issues and report on the fact that on so many different individual issues the American People hold liberal/progressive opinions. I wonder why that might be?

7. Seems to me Cantor's loss can't be attributed to a single factor

Yes, the pundits are quick to point to the result of the primary as a vote for the tea party and against progressive policies specifically immigration reform. And it's true that tea party voters were motivated to dump Cantor because of his wishy washy stance on immigration. But there were other factors at work as well, like Democratic crossover votes, Cantor's poor record of constituent service, overconfidence based on faulty polls, and of course that fact that Cantor is someone who is very easy to dislike. Arrogance and condescension just oozes from the man.

Of course our well known liberal media will gleefully latch on to the explanation that most fits their predetermined agenda, that the tea party is on the rise once again and Democrats are in deep trouble in the midterm elections.

that Cantor is a Washington establishment big-spender living it up with steakhouse dinners and swanky cars. Goliath to Brat's David. They want us to think this is a populist thing. They said Boehner cried after his boyfriend Cantor lost. Boehner wept.

Hey I voted for a guy doing everything I want and I'm not happy. We need a new crazier guy to do what I want and see if that will work!

11. ABCs agenda is clear, to make America into some strange, right-wing fundamentalist country.

ABC = Foxnews = CNN. They all like the faithful/government cray cray, because it makes them money. They could care less if it is the downfall of a nation. The state of mainstream, investigative journalism can be found on the bottom of one of my shoes.

17. With ABC, I think it is more that they tend to think of news stories as dramas that provide

narratives for Disney movies. You need to listen closely to their adjectives/descriptors. Everything is "dramatic" and no one comments but "speak out." The anchors and reporters alike speak in phrases and not sentences, using hurried, dramatic inflections. To them the narrative is more in tune with a season of a political drama.

About 10 years ago, I would come home from a late shift and watch the ABC nightly news. Seems like so much has changed. Of course really they should not call it ABC, maybe something more like Magic Mountain News.
