Mosul. Tikrit. Fallujah. Ramadi.

PARTING SHOT

Mosul. Tikrit. Fallujah. Ramadi.

Those names sound familiar, don’t they. Because it was only a few years ago we learned of those cities in Iraq as American soldiers won them back from the control of Islamic extremists.

Mosul. Tikrit. Fallujah. Ramadi.

Those same cities are back in the news today. For the opposite reason. As Islamic extremists take them back, one after the other, from an almost non-existent Iraqi army. It’s only a matter of days before they move on to Baghdad. And, once Baghdad falls, Iraq falls.

It’s now more clear than ever that the war in Iraq was a huge mistake. We spent billions of dollars. We sacrificed almost 5,000 American lives. Over 100,000 Iraqis were also killed. For what? For nothing. Iraq is falling apart. Iraq can never be put back together again, even if the United States were to send troops back to Iraq – which we will never do.

How funny to see all those who supported the war in Iraq now try to blame its failure on President Obama. No way. Iraq is not Barack Obama’s war. Iraq is George Bush’s war. And we never should have invaded Iraq in the first place.

That’s my parting shot for today. I’m Bill Press.

Shiites were going to get payback eventually which they saw as keeping the previously dominant Sunni underfoot as retribution for Saddam's years of torment. It's tribal philosophy. There was no way they were going to equally share power with the Sunni.
As a veteran, I still say the worst is to come, by way of all the thousands of terrorists we spawned from "collateral damage". They want their payback and will wait patiently to get it.
