Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsYesterday Biden said the Supremes would keep ACA. Now Obama says he thnks so, too.
Obama made a fairly broad and sweeping statement that was a good way to frame the notion of the Supremes voting on a popularly passed law.
He pointed out that conservatives don't appreciate activist judges and that to overturn ACA would be unprecedented activism.
All very good.
Are Obama and Biden confident in their predictions or whistling past the graveyard?
I can't stop thinking back to the lesser bushbaby and the unbridled activism of the Felonious Five.
Whenever I talk about ACA I think about how the repubs like to tell us how unpopular it is when polled.
That's a specious argument. While there are right wingers who hate any attempt to help those with less than them, there are also those of us who don't like ACA because it didn't go far enough. For those of us in the latter group, we mostly don't want it overturned so much as expanded. Why can't the right wing poll on a question framed *that* way? It is likely impossible to find a wider chasm than the one that exists between me and the right wingers who want this bill overturned.
