the same monopolies of the corporate media are attacking the Information Superhighway to preserve their near exclusive control of information distribution and dissemination.

“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.”

We need a huge movement to demand re-instatement of the fairness doctrine. Its time to take back our airwaves. Ron Reagon destroyed the fabric of our culture with his reckless deregulation. Everything thing he did must be undone. Lets start with the fairness doctrine so that our voices can be heard. Once we the people have regained our seat at the table, we can proceed to undo the many damages done by Reagon.
Its going to take a century though, to clean up the mess W left.

The Fascists have no intentions of allowing us to cleanup Dubya's mess. They want this to be the new normal. And they are well on their way to achieving their goal.

This is the story.

I have no doubt that this is all part of a diabolical long term right wing strategy. Listen to Limbaugh proclaim, "This is a liberal media.", when nothing could be further from the truth.

It is part of a diabolical long term right wing strategy. We all know this now don't we? Keeping us on permanent war footing is proof enough. Just look around you, look at what has happened to our nation.

It isn't a conspiracy theory. It's a conspiracy.

It's the last place left to reclaim our stories. It's the last place left for Democracy.

Thank you, abelenkpe, for an outstanding post and thread.

I get our local, very thin, newspaper. I pick up the independent weekly. I get my international news from international sites.

Television news of all sorts is useless propaganda. "News Magazines" are useless. Radio is useless. The U.S. Press leans strongly to the right and is controlled entirely by big corporate funding.

DU is a place for stories. There's a reason big corporate interests don't like the internet as a common carrier.

Simply getting out in the community and chatting with people is a good place for stories.

"People with money had a louder voice & a bigger audience."

And now they're going after the internet.

I just don't see a good outcome for the human race.
