Lindsey Graham: The Next 9/11 Is Coming from Iraq...and it's 'inevitable' (here we go again)

At least he didn't mention mushroom clouds:

by Evan McMurry | 12:17 pm, June 15th, 2014

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer Sunday morning that the developments in Iraq portended a new 9/11, a consequence he deemed “inevitable.”

“The decision to withdraw U.S. forces created a vacuum,” Graham said. “Syria is launching pad. …If the central government in Iraq collapses — and that’s the goal of ISIS — Iran will own southern part of Iraq, that’s where the Shiites live; they can operate ISIS from Baghdad to Kurdistan all the way in to Syria.

They will eventually march on Jordan and Lebanon — our best ally in the region is the King of Jordan — and they will attack us from that part of Iraq and Syria. According to our own Director of National Intelligence, FBI Director, the next 9/11 is coming from here.”

“That a very serious statement,” Schieffer said.

“I think it’s inevitable,” Graham replied. “They plan to drive us out of the Mideast by attacked us here at home.”

let's shut down the funding to these groups.

And let's counter their conservative theocratic propaganda.

Sure, the people of the nations we illegally invaded are responding to our invasion with violence and we've destabilized the region far beyond what any terrorist could hope for and given all the indigenous people a single enemy. The USA.

Sure, we have planted the seeds of another 9/11 due to our heavy-handed and unwelcome intervention into the lives of people in the region. Our actions in the region certainly have fomented a new generation of people who hate the USA with all their being.

Why we need to meddle in the business of people thousands of miles away from us who pose no harm to our nation is beyond my comprehension.

It's not like trying to pillage their natural resources has made the price of gas come down here at home. The price of gas is as high as it's ever been.

Could it be that DICK Cheney and his ilk wanted to limit the supply and, therefore, keep his profits artificially high?

killing each other while they sort out who is in charge of what over there for decades to come. Once that is sorted out, none will want to mess with us in a serious way because they understand how quick and easy we can reboot the process.

The war was stupid and immoral. This mess was the only outcome that was ever likely.

The bottom line is that some group will control the poppies in Afghanistan, and another will control the oil in Iraq. Once that question is answered, those in control will not want to mess with the US. After a decade, they are all pretty clear we can and will all but immediately depose and perhaps directly dispose with extreme prejudice anyone in control who behaves badly.

In short, messing with the US may be popular, but the money guys whoever they are or will be now know it is really bad for business.
