My OP is completely non threatening to any male here at DU. So I have no clue why anyone would try to take a dump here.

The Op is a celebration of women, every single one of us. Men are invited in the Op to join us, all the men in our lives that love and respect us. Our Fathers Brothers Sons Uncles Granfathers Friends. It's for us all.

Yet most importantly it is for the Women.

The industrial-strength butthurt around here has long since gotten out of control.

For the alert too, no? I think it is an indication of this by the lack of responses by the 'hide' votes..there is no response that doesn't sound like over sensitive whining.

But I was speaking of the people who start going "Not me!" or "Not all ____!" whenever a discussion turns slightly uncomfortable. As if they're intentionally missing the point.

My expectation was no responses at all. After reading the post something about 'men and women should have block parties' the question did come to me. Every bbq I have been to in the last 30 years the grill work was done by the men...actually whomever is having the party usually asks me to grill since I make a living cooking. One of our friends had a party over memorial day. When we got there I was the only man and my wife and I were the only straight people there out of 20 people...yep, they asked me to do the grilling there too..I laugh at these people who proclaim me a sexist...A lot of women in my real life (probably hundreds) would take aggressive umbrage to those assertions..

But there's a time and place for lame humor and this thread (title notwithstanding) doesn't really seem like it.

The administration here has, in the past, reigned in excessive minority roughshoding by relieving the primary offenders of their user names...it doesn't take many hands slapped to reign in the nonsense. ..it is time IMHO.

I did post a groaner in this thread (a mole hill) that has been so over discussed (a mountain) it should embarrass even those who think it was misplaced. an internship at the WA state capitol, we had a group of larger young men (I'm 6'3" as an example) who would wear blue jeans and white dress shirts, and we would escort single women to the clinic. You'd be surprised how much easier it is to walk through "protesters" when you have a couple of giant guys bracketing you.
