Just now with Chuck Todd... Wolfowitz just said that telling people the names Sunni and Shia is too complicated for Americans... they just need to know 'terrorism', 9/11 ... (paraphrase)...

These POS are so stupid and deluded, they judge the rest of us by themselves!
Arrogance AND Stupidity -- A most unfortunate combo.

(14,918 posts)It's extremely offensive to even interview someone like that, who has damaged our country so badly, except to grill him relentlessly over his lies and reckless disregard for what he has caused. Of course Chuck Todd pretty much just let him blather on, and did not confront him on anything of consequence other than to point out that the distinction between Shia and Sunni was not exactly "obscure." Lazy, irresponsible journalists are a big part of the problem.

(53,661 posts)We might ask ourselves if anyone would be willing to sell themselves out for a buck?
At such times, a look at the advertising business answers that question.
These guys on television are being paid more in a week or a month than most people make in a year and regard their viewers little more than the flesh and blood that pull the voting lever for their masters.
The old ideas of integrity, truth and fair play are for the masses, not them.
It's a product they are selling with disturbing but logical side effects: war, oppression, death, misery, ecological and economic destruction.
But as the sellers, they will always say 'buyer beware' and laugh at the 'suckers' who buy it.
JMHO.

That said, I'm not sure he's wrong on the very specific question of the difference between Shi'ite and Sunni. Not that we are actually too stupid, but that we are too disinterested to take the time to figure it out.

That said, I will let every other DU'er who has posted about the offensiveness of having Wolfowitz commenting at all concerning Iraq and the current issues.
Wolfowitz has a lot to atone for.
He's last on the list of people I'd ask about Shia/Sunni populations.

(9,463 posts)First, the 1700 Iraqis police yesterday. Then, today, they're supposedly executing truck drivers.
Although they showed bits of video that supposed to depict these killings, there is NO KILLING going on in the video.
Am I just supposed to believe whatever MSNBC tells me about how violent ISIS is? Am I supposed to believe that the video clips they show me depict murderous violence - without any actual violence being shown in them?

(5,586 posts)Do you think they would actually allow a news program to show snuff video on TV here I'm the US?
