The drive robbed a Walgreen's, shot and killed a cop, stole his squad car, drove to grandma's house, left the squad there, and stole grandma's car. When there is a police chase involving an auto being driven by a cop killer, things can easily get out of control. I don't like what happened in this case either, especially the cop being killed.

And what about the OTHER unarmed man in the car? Quite possibly he was just out on a drive with a friend when gunned down by people who will never pay ANY price for his death.

I gave already said what the cops did was wrong. The passenger should have chosen a better friend.

WTF????? That's a ridiculous statement. Apparently the alleged perpetrator was a pretty nice guy according to reports from people who had known him for YEARS. I would imagine that he probably had quite a few friends. So should they be executed because they happened to be with him?

So if one of your buddies goes around the bend one day, will you think YOU should have "...chosen a better friend"?

In most of these situations the guys that rob drug stores and shoot cops are not "pretty nice guys". I wonder what his priors were?

It seems to me that whenever a serial rapost or killer is caught the neighbors always say 'he seemed like such a nice guy'.

FYI there are a lot of criminals who "have a lot of friends".

If I had a buddy who robbed a drugstore and shot a cop and he picked me up while he was on the run from the cops and I did not get killed I would think WTF? And I would then think, "man, I gotta get beter friends".

And nothing will happen. It was a 'tragic accident'.....

The guns in civilian hands haven't gotten more powerful since the 1960's. What has made cops start dressing like the SuperSoldats from a Wolfenstein game has been the decision to kick down doors with no-knock warrants, thereby significantly raising the level of potential conflict. As a result, sometimes due to incompetence like raiding the wrong address, innocent people are shot to death and dogs routinely shot, often in the back. At the correct address, the same occurs but also among the fallen have been children shot in the back with a shotgun (while laying on the floor) and a little girl and a baby blown up with flashbangs. Now we the people would like to believe that the District Attorney would hold these reckless negligent public servants accountable, but in nearly every case they are found innocent and the shooting is "justified".

So now you have a police culture where you can just shoot someone, make up any story you want, and never get charged or fired. It's not paranoia - they just have a license to kill.

Thats why cops have to be heavily armed and armored.
Would YOU want to kick in the door of a house when u think you could be greeted by a hail of armor piercing bullets or a bomb? If it were me I would demand a GD tank.

We had a situation here last week where the cops had to explode a bomb in the guys house to try to drive him out and it broke all the neighbors windows. They used robots and everything available. The cops went inside those neighbors houses for cover while shooting into his house. After all that it was discovered he wasnt even there. It turns out he didnt even have much of an arsenal but they did find the missing person they were looking for buried in his backyard.

The NRA isn't causing the police to dress like super soldiers and think of the general population as an enemy army to be killed. The war on drugs seems to have played a big part along with the so called war on terror.

THe DHS says that lone RW gunnuts are now the biggest domestic tterrorism threat. Thanks partly to the NRA.

I would demand a tank if I were a cop these days.

My cousin and I were cruising through Overtown one night, looking to score some weed. Overtown was the best example of inner-city decay at the time, and most cops were even afraid to go in there after dark. Well, we come around the corner, I'm driving my Dade Cable van (this was before Storer Cable bought Dade Cable out... I cussed Peter Storer out to his face too, but that's a different story) and there was a cop car sitting right in front of where we wanted to go so my cousin says "go around a couple blocks and come back". I drive 2 more blocks down, make a right, go 3 blocks, make another right, go the two blocks to the stop sign to turn right to where the dope house was and my cousin says "go ahead and turn, the cop is gone!" I put my blinker on, check the rear view... and say "yeah, he's right behind us!"

I turn right, and the cop blue lights me immediately. I pull over, get my license out and wait for him to come to the window. He gets to the window and it's this HUGH (and I was 6'3", 235) African American cop. He asks me "what are you doing in this area?" I say "just driving around and a little lost". Cop says "don't bullshit me, I grew up in this neighborhood and I *KNOW* what you're doing here!" My cousin leans over and says "ok, we were here to get a dime bag of weed but you wree parked where we wanted to go, so we were driving around waiting for you to leave!"

I'm about to shit myself in disbelief when the cop looks at me and says "there, was THAT so hard to do? You have this nice van full off electronics and I don't want to see you get ripped off for it. I'll follow you down, you get your weed, then get the hell out of here"! He followed us.. we got our weed, he waved us goodbye and we were on our way back home. That was the good cop!

Another time I got popped for driving on suspended license and the cop was taking me to jail. He pissed me off, so I was getting to be a smartass with him. He didn't like that, o he pulled into an alley between some buildings, yanked me out of the car and was gonna tune me up a litte. Suddenly we heard a noise, he looks up and a guy is coming down a fire escape with a pillowcase full of stuff and a bicycle over his shoulder. The cop lokked at the guy coming down, pulled out his gun, and shot dude off the fire escape. He then looked at me and asked "you didn't see *ANYTHING*, did you??" I said "NO SIR! DIDN'T seee NOTHING!!" He said "Good, now get out of here before I shoot you too! I was gone in a flash and never looked back.... This was a bad cop!

I've lived around the Cutler Ridge police station. I've seen some messed up things around there, and that's out in the suburbs. I can't even imagine Overtown or Little Haiti.

The Redlands, South Beach, Miami Beach, North Miami Beach (Ives Estates area) in Dade County. Hallandale, Hollywood, Dania Beach, Davie and Ft. Lauderdale in Broward County and Key Largo and Lower Matecumba Key in Monroe County. I had friends who lived in Cutler Ridge, and I've spent many a night partying there, and days jumping off of Snowdens Dam and swinging on the rope swings. I'm going back 30+ years here!

I have been thinking about moving back to the Central Fla area, around Ocala, but further out. My older sister & brother-in-law live in Ocklawaha, as well as my nephew, his wife and some great-nieces & great-nephews. They are out in the middle of the Ocala National Forest. Just my type of place... had enough of the 'big cities' when I was younger. I LOVE rural living! I hate crowds and traffic...and certainly don't miss the sounds of police and ambulance sirens 24/7! We *might* hear a siren once or twice a month where I am now! To get in a traffic jam, I'd have to go to a church parking lot on Sunday mornings and blow my horn at parked cars LOL!

I've been thinking about the move for a couple of years now, but the only thing holding me back is my elderly parents, who live 4 doors up from me. My only consolation is that my youngest sister is staying there with them right now and helping them out. We think my 76 year old father is in the beginning stages of dementia or Alzheimer's. I'd hate for something to happen and I couldn't get back up here quick enough. My disability only stretches so far, you know.
