Virginia man arrested in murder plot against wife, “Gotta love the gun show loophole"

Just before his arrest, Kevin Colgan’s Facebook page was inundated with references to hiring a hitman in order to have his estranged wife killed. On June 12th, the Roanoke, Virginia resident wrote, “I know it is illegal to say “I’m going to kill you”. (Hard to convict even with perjured testimony. Question: is it it also illegal to ask someone to kill? Or to say you woul like to eventually?”

Various threats were left. In May, Colgan wrote, “Gotta love the “gun show loophole”. I found a Glock. Cost me $400 but I’m no longer defenseless. I just need to learn how to use it. Thankfully I can take classes without using mine.”

Asshole and a nutcase, but probably never held a gun, much less bought one through a loophole. NYC_SKP Jun 2014 #4
I tend to agree with you that he did not have a gun. Jenoch Jun 2014 #6

I'm glad the guy he "hired" to do the job was actually an undercover agent.

What an asshole. No wonder his wife wanted a divorce.

It sounds much more like he was using a public forum, Facebook, to make threats and intimidate the woman and those around her.

Deserves a long sentence, but I haven't read where they found an actual during the arrest and investigation.

Besides that, who would sell a Glock for $400?

Gun control advocates struck a deal in 1968. That deal differentiated between sales from FFLs and private sales among lawful residents

He is a total narcissist. Oddly he is a super progressive liberal who is very much anti gun. But, in his mind, what is wrong for others isn't necessarily wrong for him. He always has a legitimate reason for his actions. Also, he left his wife. She didn't want a divorce but he realized he was gay and wanted out if marriage. He then got engaged to another woman very briefly. He said she was a gold digger and decided to put off women entirely at that point. Go look at his FB page. If you go back far enough (past the super crazy) you'll see what I mean. I do find it funny that of the two liberal forums/blogs everyone thinks he's a gun-toting conservative. He'd be so freaking pissed if he knew liberals thought this of him.
