Death Dealers: Pathetic GOP Candidates Are Giving Away Assault Rifles to Buy Votes

This election cycle, right-wing politicians are taking a page from certain churches’ books and buying popularity with gun raffles. Seem like a bad idea? It sure is–but with conservatives’ obsession with guns there is no more surefire way to make oneself a god amongst the Teabilly crowd than to lure them in with a smile and an AR-15.

On Thursday, Clint Didier, a Tea Party Republican, announced that he will be giving away two Ruger 2300 LC9 pistols and a DB-15 S rifle in an effort to gain support in his bid for retiring Washington Rep. Doc Hastings. Hastings is just the latest to prey upon conservatives’ paranoid ‘Yer not gonna git mah guns’ attitude.

Ron Paul is chairman of Campaign for Liberty. The group, which promises to “promote and defend the great American principles,” announced that it would be giving away an AR-15 in April in an effort to win the simple hearts and simple minds of right-wingers. In 2013, Steve Stockman gave away two Bushmaster AR-15 assault rifles, “the firearm that Obama most wants to ban.” Giving away two guns earlier this year did not help Paul 'Jesus rode on dinosaurs' Broun in his bid to succeed Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss–but hey, at least he introduced more weapons into the population!

Colorado gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo teamed up with pants-pooping pedophile Ted Nugent to raffle off an AR-15 to one lucky supporter. Unfortunately, this seems to be the prevailing strategy in right-wing-land. Give a man a gun and he’ll assume that you’re a patriot…or…something.
