Why should money be considered sacred when human life clearly isn't?

As it is, we collectively are placing the right of individuals to accrue millions and billions of dollars, over the right of our own countrymen/women to enjoy the basics of survival (food, housing, healthcare). "But I'm a liberal/progressive!" is not at issue here - I'm talking about how our society functions on a collective level, the notions we tacitly accept and play into.

Just some thoughts I had, after a certain OP and the indignant reaction to it...
