Freeper whines about Thad Cochran voting for Martin Luther King Day!

Wow. This is an actual quote from a Freeper:

The RINO Rat Thad Cochran was among the turncoat Republicans who voted for the ignominious MLK holiday in October 1983. Conservative Patriots such as Barry Goldwater, Jesse Helms and John Tower rightly repudiated this travesty. It’s utterly disgusting that a commie sympathizer has a named holiday but the Father of Our Country, George Washington is relegated to the generic “President’s Day”.

Freepers: Continuing to sympathize with the wrong side of history. At least Reagan had more class in signing MLK Day into law. As for these "patriots", John Tower opposed the Civil Rights Act, so did Helms and Goldwater. And this guy probably likes to remind Democrats "hurr durr the Democrats formed the KKK and opposed Civil Rights durrrr".

By the way, the Senate roll call on recognizing MLK Day is here, the House roll call here. Wow...Orrin Hatch voted no on MLK Day yet STILL has been in the senate in the 30+ years since? So creepy. And among the House members who voted no on MLK...Don Sundquist (TN) and Jim Martin (NC) went on to be governors in their home states! Apparently, even in 1983 voting against MLK Day was NOT a third rail.

I will be sending this link to everyone I know, just to show them how vile the teaklan is.

Dan Quayle voted aye, Chuck Grassley nay. That makes the horrid Quayle a better person than Grassley.
