Joe Scarborough: McDaniel Too 'Stupid' To Figure Out How To Win

CATHERINE THOMPSON – JUNE 26, 2014, 8:34 AM EDT

"Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough ripped into tea partier Chris McDaniel (R) on Thursday for crying foul about his tough runoff loss to Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS). "You lost!" Scarborough exclaimed. "When you lose, you lose because you're too stupid to use tactics to adjust."

Cochran eked out a narrow victory in Tuesday's runoff in part because his campaign courted black and Democratic voters to support him in the open election. McDaniel refused to concede the race after it was called for Cochran, however, and cited "irregularities" in voting when he vowed to fight the election results.

McDaniel also got some backup Wednesday from Sarah Palin, who called for an investigation into whether any illegal activity took place in the runoff election.

"I can tell you if these people were my children, I would be laughing at them calling them the biggest whiners," Scarborough said. "'They cheated!' No, they didn't, they followed the rules. They followed the law."

McDaniel's team went to all that trouble to get themselves locked in the courthouse in the only county that didn't have a final tally and they still didn't get enough votes to avoid the runoff. Cheating--they're not doing it right.
