Robert Reich response to Boehner's "lawsuit"

Robert Reich
1 hr ·
House Speaker John Boehner said today he plans to move forward with a lawsuit against President Barack Obama for misusing executive powers by allegedly side-stepping Congress on immigration and other policies. In a memo to Republicans, Boehner accused Obama of asserting “king-like authority.” Baloney. As I’ve pointed out on this page, every rule and legal interpretation Obama has made has been pursuant to a specific act of Congress. If there’s a misuse of constitutional authority it’s in the Republican House, which has refused to appropriate enough funds to enforce the laws already on the books – laws designed to protect workers, consumers, small investors, and the environment, and to collect taxes. Enforcement budgets at the Department of Labor, Securities and Exchange Commission, EPA, IRS, and consumer protection agencies have been slashed so badly many laws no longer have the full force of law. If the Supreme Court weren’t stacked with rightwing Republicans I might even suggest Obama sue John Boehner for misusing legislative authority.

I ought to sue Boehner's sorry alcoholic ass for creating a road hazard.

The states all have the same problem. Not enough Investigators to inspect refineries, nail salons, wrecker companies and their tow yards where your vehicle is stored.... What I have listed above I know from personal experience. As a matter of fact, I recall from a few months ago the Freedom Industries spill of the coal washing chemical, those tanks hadn't been inspected in something like 15-20 years. We have the VA which is also a victim of this as well.

It appears that the Republicans have indeed drowned government in the bathtub while our Democrats were at a $2,000 a plate fundraiser where Hillary was the featured speaker!

I hope you aren't a practicing lawyer trying to make an income on such leaps of illogic.

"Not enough investigators" somehow being caused by a Hillary fundraiser?

I suspect you are a big Hillary supporter Error, so my explanation may fall on deaf ears. It is my firm belief that almost all of the DC politicians are bought off for one. The Republicans can be open in their support of Big Business, while the Democrats must use more tact and throw us bones with a little meat on them. Bill and Hillary have done many great things for us, don't get me wrong, but they are at their heart, Corporatists. They have to be to get in, and stay in office. The Democrats have not been very vocal about what has happened in our country, with a few exceptions. I hate the system that allows the legalized bribery of our politicians more than the individuals playing the game. That is not to say that they are not culpable and Hillary has played a very good game for a long time. If she wins the Primary I will certainly vote for her. I may even vote for her in the Primary depending on who else is running. I think that she has the gravitas however, to be able to come out with the truth that our system is corrupt and needs to be changed. Instead, she will play the game better than anyone else out there can, and raise more money than Obama did. Afterwards she will pay back Wall Street, the MIC, the media....
