Dear GOP, You Don't Own Me.

It would be laughable, the way they carry on, if it wasn't so serious and deadly for women. The GOP have become the party of ugly old white boys sitting around their exclusive men's club yukking it up about how to control and suppress women. They apparently find rape amusing, you women can shut that all down after all it wasn't legitimate rape.

They want to strip us not only of our dignity but of our fundamental right to chose what is best for us. They wish to police our bodies, peek into our bedrooms and barge into our doctors office. They want to force procedures on women, forced vaginal ultrasound before an abortion, even in the event of a rape pregnancy. Talk about getting screwed for gawds sake!

Oh yes, let's not forget the wisdom of SCOTUS the other day. No more buffer zones for those entering an abortion clinic. The protesters rights are preserved. The women not so much. These protestors are "counselors". I think not.

The Court is saying that McCullen wasn’t merely a protestor. She was a “counselor”, seeking to change a woman’s mind seeking abortion. They are not getting together in a drum circle. What the court has done is carve out a special status for anti-abortion protestors, putting them above those who might, say, gather on the Supreme Court steps.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10025161431

You got that, do you? The anti abortion protesters win here. I don't know if I can ever forgive the women of SCOTUS for this decision.

There's more so much more as the GOP tries to suppress our voice and our vote. They wish to keep us barefoot, pregnant and without a voice. Equal pay, forget it. They want to give us nothing and take everything.

They want us silent, mindless and submissive. They want us to STFU so they can continue on in their warped uneducated neanderthal beliefs. They believe they are superior, I think not and so do you. It's past time to get them gone.

Vote. Your life depends on it. Your daughter's life Your nieces life Your grandaughter's life depends on it. This is our tool, let's use it. I am not going back.

They allow "free speech" concentration camps whenever their cronies need protecting. There is even a large area in front of the Supreme Court building that is off limits to protesters -- bigger by far than 35 feet. You didn't see the First Amendment rights extended there. Nor will you.

Where is the line between free speech and harassment? Or where is the line between free speech and hate speech? What would SCOTUS say if a group of people gathered every day outside one of these 'counselors' home and yelled at them every time they arrived or left their home - calling them 'baby starvers' or 'rape enablers'? Think that would be allowed?

Really sad. They were just given the right to take it to their face. Upfront and personal. It's in your face for these well trained???? "Counselors" They have the right to councel their hate and their beliefs with out the benefit of a degree in counseling. It's so effing wrong!

Wrong Vattel. They were given the right to say no to a woman's right to chose. They are now allowed to harass and humiliate a woman in their face. Such an incredibly painful decision for any woman is now allowed and is a travesty of justice.

And Massachusetts is free to enact laws to criminalize behavior outside the clinic that would rise to the level of harassment. The general principle here is that infringements on free speech must be minimized. If one wants a safe and orderly entrance to a clinic, one can pass laws that curtail speech, but only if they do not curtail speech more than is necessary to provide the desired safety and order. SCOTUS, including Ginsberg and Sotomayor, believed Massachusetts failed to show that they could not achieve their goals through means that would curtail speech less.

I vote like my life depended on it. Because it does. Still. And I'm sorry to say I've been forced into being a litmus-test voter. The first thing I always try to ascertain is whether a candidate is pro-choice. That's the first and sometimes ONLY hurdle. If he or she can't get past that, I am really not interested in anything else he/she has to say. Even on voting rights. Even on climate change. Even on income inequality. I can't vote for them if they're not onboard with a woman's right to choose. It's THAT fundamental to me. It is an ABSOLUTE. It is NON-NEGOTIABLE.

Yes, pro choice is the litmus test. You don't want it they don't get my vote. Lucky me that has not happened here for the candidate that I was voting for!

Mon Jun 30, 2014, 01:10 PM

So am I (California).

And we can't afford to get complacent about that. We can't afford to assume that it'll always be that way. Not with the kinds of barbarians at the gate that we face - day in and day out. They will never rest. So therefore, neither can we. We can NEVER let down our guard and simply assume our rights are protected and safe, just because we're a blue state. Hell, we Californians are to blame for fostering Prop 13 and its figurehead-from-Hell ronald reagan on the rest of the nation. And there are those who say California is a true blue state. It IS. For NOW. But if it's going to stay that way, we cannot afford to drop our guard. The enemy is always awake, always watching, always on alert, always looking for an in, always looking for a loophole, always looking for a stray thread that they can pull at and pick at so it starts a greater unraveling. They're ALWAYS at it. So we cannot afford not to be.

Do not assume for a New York (or Massachusetts OR California) minute that there aren't armies of activists who dream of the day they can turn BOTH our states red. Hell, we just recently had fucking schwarzenegger blight the landscape in Sacramento in a bare-naked heist of the governor's office, and he's a CON. Massachusetts and their lovely and embarrassingly naive Martha Coakley got complacent and took a vacation and figured this was already in the bag and didn't fight and didn't stay vigilant - and look what happened there! That idiot scott brown was able to slither his way in - and now he has a base of support to wage further war that he would not have had if he'd been kept in his place and the fight had been taken seriously.

We can't EVER afford to assume that just because Massachusetts or California are blue states NOW - that they'll stay that way. Don't think for an instant that there aren't tons of activists on the other side whose dream and determination is nothing but snatching those states away from us and turning them red. They're out there. And at the moment we have the upper hand. AT THE MOMENT. And that can very easily change.

Goo-goo, gah gah...

Hahaha, just kidding. I don't talk like that anymore. Just a little baby joke to warm up the crowd. Now brace yourselves, as much as I'd like to keep this whole article on the lighthearted side, there is one unpleasant detail I need to get out of the way first:

I'm dead...and I have been for sometime now.

Relax, it's cool. Actually, where I'm at now is a pretty awesome joint- lots of fun things to do and I get all the knowledge and wisdom that ever was without having to go through all the pesky education and what-not.

Now then, this article is for everybody, but mostly for all you so-called 'pro-life' types. See, like millions of others just like me, I died after I was born. In my case, the cause was polluted water.

There's plenty of babies here- just like me- who didn't get the chance to do all the cool stuff many of you take for granted. Some of us bought the farm because of disease or war...some of us got shook way to hard when we were tiny- those guys always have the best sense of humor!

Anyway, like I said, I'm mainly speaking to you hardcore pro-lifers out there:

Where the fuck were you?

Seriously, why couldn't you get in faces of and do a little screaming at the guys who polluted my water, hmm?

Women need to get out and vote from now on (every single time the polls are open,) no excuses, no ifs, ands or buts. Women alone could win back the entire political landscape from local to state to Federal, if they would just take the bull by the horns. Every American citizen, for that matter, needs to be as committed to voting as they are committed to their families, their careers, their Dental appmts., their parents, their game night, yadda, yaddaa, yadda.

Seriously, this sweeping SC majority decision on the buffer zone at women's clinics reminds me of the 2000 election. It is that unbelievable to me. At 35 feet, the protesters still had their freedom of speech! The SCs decision simply legalized the protesters right to harass women who enter a woman's clinic for whatever reason she is going there. We must remember that these ARE women's clinics. They do more than just abortions at these offices. This means that ALL women will be harassed from the time they exit their vehicles till the moment they walk through its doors and all the way back to their cars when their business there is finished.

Imagine the number of women, due to the harassment, who already feel forced to get their care elsewhere where it's more expensive, or who feel like they indeed have no choice but to carry a child even if they feel they can't for whatever reason, or who forgo the BC pills they need so desperately since they already have 5 kids and cannot afford to have more children. These women's lives have been changed by those religious zealots. The zealots AND the SC have, for all intents and purposes, taken away those women's right to control their own lives however they damn well choose.

Oh yeah, and here's another beef about these harassing protest mobs: when was the last time you seen police in riot gear and/or on horseback beating up on these protesters on your TV? Are they required to get a daily permit from the city/town to hold these protests? What? No "Free-speech-zone" cages 5 blocks away? Also, they are not "redressing their government for grievances." They are shoving their religious views down the throat of every woman who enters the clinic!

So, let's see: No freedom to choose one's healthcare and make one's own life shattering decisions; no freedom of religion; no right to privacy.

They DON'T own us, ladies. Thank you sheshe2 for the Leslie Gore clip and the OP. I love that song & that particular clip. She was good, wasn't she? And your words just got me going. It's a serious miscarriage of justice all the way around, I tells ya.
