America is worse.

The Boko Haram would be friendly, peaceful, and tolerant if the only Western world A. Stayed out of Afghanistan and Iraq, B. Quit supporting Israel, and C. Quit using oil. Oh, and if all the Christians in Nigeria would submit to paying a generous jizyah and accepted the supremacy of Sharia, that would help.

And I wouldn't downplay the Dominionist thing either - given the chance, they'd probably behave similarly. But we have the good fortune to live in a relatively stable, developed country.

For me it's not a matter of "better" or "worse." People are fucked-up and scary all over the world.

We have issues with scary people with fucked up ideas. We need to oppose those cruel and selfish ideas through education.

But some people seem to relish the concept that America is the only bad guy, and that people in other parts of the world only have fucked up ideas because we made them.

This is ridiculous and divisive and needs to be called out.

In many ways, we've had a hand in making the world a worse place, but it was screwed up to begin with. Always has been.
