Although the U.S. never accepted -- or denied -- responsibility for the virus, a January 2010 cable released by WikiLeaks earlier this year revealed that the U.S. was at that time considering advice by a German thinktank that "covert sabotage" would be the most effective way to disable Iran's nuclear program.
In January this year, the New York Times reported the Stuxnet worm was the brainchild of a joint U.S.-Israeli project and several cyber security experts have told ABC News both the U.S. and Israel are on a short list of countries capable of pulling of such a complex and sophisticated cyber attack.

(62,325 posts)I recall reading that the sale of those chemicals to Iraq got a rare unanimous vote by Congress against it, but Reagan vetoed it. Reagan loved Saddam, sent him gold cuff links through Rummy. I remember telling that to a bunch of Rightwingers once and they threatened me. Lol! The truth hurt them but it didn't stop them from blindly following along anyhow.

The CIA was well aware that AQ Khan was also peddling his "previously-owned, low-miles" uranium enrichment centrifuges to Iraq and Iran in the Bush Sr. 1980s. Israel already had their bombs just-in-time for the 1967 War, thanks to us, and the ability to deliver them.
