Just want to make sure i've got this right...
So the argument of Hobby Lobby (HL) is that they are offering their employees health insurance (out of the goodness of their blessed little hearts, of course), and they're paying for it. Because of that, they feel like they should be able to not cover things that they feel are objectionable like birth control. And, as the argument goes, if HL is offering this as a perk to their employees, and they're paying for it, they should be able to decide what's in it.
All well and good, and makes at least some logical sense, except for one critical thing: money spent on health insurance for employees is tax deductible. So in essence, HL and presumably other companies, are getting a tax break - money that we, the tax payers have to make up for either with higher taxes or with reduced services. We are then subsidizing HL and their religion.
Of course, that means that if a Muslim company decides to limit what a health plan can cost, Good Christians (tm) are then subsidizing Islam.
Is this about right?
