To be on the safe side, our family is making contingency plans for vacation. We have reservations
in Hatteras for 2wks. If the road washes out, we may need to head further south for our family beach trip.

People were throwing things at him and telling him to "get the fuck out of town," as if he were bringing us bad luck! I didn't care because I don't like him, anyway. Biloxi had a hell of a lot of damage, but there were places that fared much worse. Too bad he wasn't in one of those places.

One of them tried to ride out Katrina in a house a couple blocks from the bay. He ended up clinging to the wrecked bridge for 2 days before being rescued.
Everybody there thought Camille was as bad as a hurricane was ever going to be. Many buildings had marks on the wall, inside or out, of the water level during Camille... the locals would proudly show them off. Katrina was more than 12 feet higher. The town was pretty much levelled.

After Katrina, I frankly don't know what to expect from the future. That storm did things I didn't know a hurricane could do.
